At a Glance

The yield, also known as enrollment rate, is the percentage of enrolled students. It is calculated by dividing the number of enrolled students by the number of total accepted students. It is different from the acceptance rate which is the percentage of admitted students over the number of total applicants. The "admitted" does not mean that all admitted students would enroll in school and an admitted student may or may not enroll in school.
Suppose that 2,000 students have applied, 500 students have allowed admitting, and finally, 300 students have enrolled in a school. In this case, the yield is 60% (300 / 500 * 100) where the acceptance rate is 25% (500 / 2,000 * 100) .
The higher yield means that more students choose the school to enroll in other than other similar/rivalry schools. In general, the yield of the most top-ranked schools is high while the acceptance rate is low.
